Obituary of Joy Campbell Fitzgerald

Josephine (Joy) Campbell Fitzgerald, 95, of Florham Park, NJ, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Joy A. Fitzgerald, of Hobe Sound, FL on January 29, 2021. "Joy" was born in Nyack, NY in 1925 to Ada and William Campbell. Her mother died when she was 8-years old and she was raised by her aunt, Teresa Malone of New York City and Chestertown, NY. She attended St. Catherine Academy and the College of New Rochelle. After WWII, she wed John J. Fitzgerald of Brooklyn and eventually settled in Florham Park after the Korean War. Mr. Fitzgerald died in 1962 leaving Joy with 6 young children, who became the focus of her life. In the mid-60's, she began work for Jim Giordano, CPA of Florham Park and continued to work for Jim and his partners for the next 40+ years, ultimately retiring from the firm of Giordano, Cohen & Fastiggi. Her wit and wisdom made her a "Joy" to all who knew her. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her eldest child, Patricia Barszcz of East Amherst, NY in 2010. She is survived by her remaining 5 children, Joy Fitzgerald and John Fitzgerald, both of Hobe Sound, FL, Joe Fitzgerald of McLean, VA, Peter Fitzgerald of Washington, DC and Anne Podlovits of Florham Park as well as 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, New Jersey. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park, New Jersey. Inurnment will follow to Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
