Obituary of Robert W. Adubato
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Adubato, 87, of Randolph passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at home after a brief illness.
Robert was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Thomas and Constance Adubato. Robert grew up in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and graduated from Bloomfield High School where he was a baseball standout pitching two no-hitters and leading his team to a Greater Newark Tournament Championship and a New Jersey State Championship. He was inducted into the Bloomfield Athletic Hall of Fame in April 1986. Robert signed a contract to play professionally with the Boston Red Sox in 1952. He toiled in the minor leagues for six years, his best year being with the Corning Red Sox where he was 16-4. While in Corning, something more important than baseball happened, Robert met the love of his life and the woman who would become his wife for 58 wonderful years the beautiful Ednah Clark.
After arm injuries derailed his baseball career, he went into business with his uncles and became an excellent auto mechanic. While working as a mechanic an opportunity to become a salesman with Pine Brook Tire Company became available and he accepted the challenge. He became a salesman and subsequently an excellent general manager who molded the sales careers of many employees and friends.
Because of his love of baseball, he became involved in the Randolph Little League in the 1960s and 70s. Many of kids he coached in Little League and Junior Babe Ruth still remember him and were in touch with him right up until his passing. He not only made them better ball players, but also instilled a work ethic that they carried forward with them in life. He loved working with kids of all ages. Later in life he loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, as well as other children, teaching them the game he loved. He especially loved watching his grandsons play baseball and training them throughout their careers.
Robert was predeceased by his spouse Ednah, his brother Thomas, and his parents. He is survived by his three children TJ and his wife Patty of Nutley, Timothy and his girlfriend Ginny Fisher of Randolph, Marie O’Hare and her husband Paul of Morris Township. Loving grandfather to Nicholas Adubato , Alannah and her husband Joe Martin, Sean, Robert, and Patrick O’Hare and great grandfather to Holly and Luke Martin who he was able to meet days before his passing. Also survived by nephews Ted Sardinia and his wife Nancy, Alex Sardinia and his wife Carolyn (Molly), and niece Michele Sardinia and their children.
