Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Vidor, an impassioned seeker of knowledge both earthly and sublime, left us on Wednesday morning, August 4, 2021, to continue his quest beyond the limitations of his mortal coil. Born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1925, he narrowly survived extermination in the Holocaust. He studied to be a concert pianist but ultimately went to medical school and practiced psychiatry in Budapest, Vienna, Kearny, New Jersey, and Morristown for sixty years. In Hungary, he married Eva (nee Pollak), with whom he happily celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary just last week in their home of 58 years in Morris Plains, New Jersey. She survives him, along with his son, Peter Vidor, daughter-in-law, April Vidor, and his devoted grandchildren, Jordan and Alexander Vidor. Nothing gave him more pleasure than reading and music. Vast knowledge informed his interests and his writings, while music transported him to realms of incomprehensible beauty. No one who met him would ever forget him, because for him no encounter was casual. Every conversation was filled with meaning, every thought led to new discoveries. His was a world of wonder and mystical beauty, and there was no greater excitement for him than to be able to communicate these to anyone who’d listen. A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held on his 96th birthday, October 9th. Arrangements are entrusted to Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
