Our sincere condolences to Ahto family. We knew Charlie as a next door neighbor for 10+ years. He was a jolly good neighbor always inquiring about our kids and their progress. The thing we remember the most about Charlie is his zeal to remove snow as soon as some accumulation starts. Without a miss, he would be out with snow blower or shovel and would not wait for the snow shower to end. We were inspired by his enthusiasm and stamina even at his age to work hard and enjoy life. We will definitely miss him.

We learned a lot about Charles from his family, who always were proud of their father and grandfather. A person who was described to us as an honest and upright man.
We were eager to meet him in person. We deeply regret that there was not enough time to do so.

My sincere condolences to the Ahto family. I would see Charlie and his wife at 7:30 a.m. mass at Holy Family for many years.
I grew up in Madison graduating high school 1959. I remember his father, Charlie, Sr., who was meat department manager at the original Madison A&P (next to what was the soda fountain Gil's where all the kids hung out after school). This A&P was a new concept in grocery stores with pre-wrapped meat and a liquor department. My mom got a full-time job in the meat department as a wrapper - part of the prepackaged meat concept - and Charlie, Sr. was her boss. I went into the store every day to see my mom and would also see Charlie, Sr. Charlie's mom worked in the cafeteria at Kings Road School initially. She was lilttle in stature but a dynamo! I also remember Charlie's brother, Sam, riding around school in his convertible.
Losing Charlie, Jr., is just another part of Madison past (although he lived in Florham Park for many years). Madison was a really small town where everyone knew everyone.
God bless his family.

I worked with Charlie for many years. I considered him my mentor. He expected top quality work from his employees and I was always happy to meet his expectations. My field was IT. I recall one time he called me in for an assignment which was not IT related at all. I questioned why I was getting this particular assignment. He told me that I was the only one he trusted to do it properly. That was the best compliment I could have received. My condolences to the entire family. I will miss him. My sincere condolences to Candi.

Chayim,
This is a wonderful tribute to our father. Dad loved to share his knowledge and always wanted to help others succeed. You knew him well. He expected top quality work from his children too! No cutting corners with Dad. Thank you for your kind words. Cheryl

Dear Ahto Family,
we would like to express our deepest condolences to Charles, beloved husband, father, great-grandfather, friend ....
Even we have unfortunately never met Charles personally, we feel close to your family and are very grateful and happy to have such a wonderful friendship with Laura since many years. We heard so many wonderful stories about Charles and his life.
We wish you strength for the coming time and that the wonderful moments and memories with you loved will help to heal the wounds.

Charlie I will miss you a lot. You helped me when my father passed to deal with his loss. You always had time for me to come over and sit on the bench by the lake and shoot the breeze. We’d talk about all kinds of thinks and you always gave me your honest opinion. Nobody can ever say they didn’t know how you felt on a topic. You raised a great family and it was my privilege to get to know all of you. God bless you all.
