Obituary of Katherine Verenes

Katherine Verenes, 99, formerly of Morristown, more recently of Princeton, passed away on September 2, 2021 at Artis Senior Living of Princeton Junction. Born in Hoboken, Katherine resided in Hoboken before moving to Morristown 55 years ago. Katherine graduated from Morristown High School. She worked at Greystone Hospital as an Office Manager for their Personnel Department before she retired in 1988. Katherine was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield, where she was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. Katherine also volunteered her time, as a Sunday School Teacher & Supervisor of the Sunday School Program at SS. Constantine & Helen Church formerly in Orange. Katherine was also an active member of the Morris Township Senior Citizens Club for the last 20 years. Katherine is survived by her devoted children, Peter James Verenes, and his wife, Phyllis, of Morristown, and Ellen Verenes Hickman, and her husband, James, of Yardley, PA. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Lesley Hickman Stratton, and her husband, Brian, Gregory Hickman, and his wife, Sarah, Andrea Verenes Pulito, and her husband, Daniel, and Constantine Verenes; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthew, Cole, Forrest, Maren, and Olive. Katherine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Constantine, in 1973, and her siblings, Tessie, Sophie, and Theodore. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10:40-11:15 am, with a Funeral Service at 11:15am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 250 Gallows Hill Road, Westfield. (Guests are respectfully asked to please wear masks indoors.) Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Morristown. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Katherine may be made to: The Ladies Philoptochos Society Of Westfield Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church specifically for families and children in need.
