Obituary of Peter E. Olin

Peter Edgar Olin, age 76, of Morris Township, New Jersey passed away at home on November 26 after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 10, 2021, at 11 am at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Masks are respectfully required for all guests. Inurnment will be private to family. Peter was born in Morristown, New Jersey to Arthur and Mary Olin née Culberson on August 29, 1945. He attended Morristown High School, graduating in 1963. In July of that year, he volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy, where he was trained as an electronics technician and was ultimately deployed to Vietnam, serving aboard the USS Benner. He completed his service in 1966 and was, thereafter, employed at Hewlett-Packard Company for a number of years where he made lasting friendships with a number of his co-workers. After retirement, Pete remained involved in the world of electronics and was active in the New Jersey Antique Radio Club, where he shared his extensive knowledge on the repair of old radios and donated a number of restored radios from his private collection to their museum. Peter is survived by his wife, Mary and son, Erik of Morris Township, NJ and his partner, Maddie Farbstein of New York City, and his daughter and son-in-law, Deirdre and Matt Hagelin of Randolph, NJ. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Storgion and his nieces Eileen, Karen and Lynda. He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mary, and his brother, Carl. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Atlantic Visiting Nurse Hospice organization.
