Harriet M. Schwartz, 85, of Morris Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on February 24, 2022.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Harriet moved to Morris Plains. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. Before her retirement in 1999, Harriet was a Teacher of Social Studies and English in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District; specifically, Brooklawn Middle School, Parsippany High School, Parsippany Hills High School and Central Middle School. She was a consummate educator, department chair, colleague, Phillies fan, listener, and friend.  She always knew how to motivate and listen, and her hazel eyes twinkled with delight when her students responded to her challenges.

Harriet is survived by her devoted children, Lisa Park and her husband, Rick Park, Elaine C. Schwartz, and Daniel Schwartz and his wife, Ginny, adoring grandchildren, Lauren Park, Michael Park, Jacob Schwartz, Samuel Schwartz, Kayleigh Schwartz Pate, Elyse Schwartz. Harriet is also survived by her caring brother, Robert Cohen and his wife, Ruth, and many cherished nieces and nephews. As the matriarch of the family, Harriet required anyone entering the family to take a social studies quiz before she would approve the marriage.

Harriet is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Schwartz (1996), and brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Ann Cohen.

She will be remembered as a Eishet Chayil, a Woman of Valor.
