Obituary of Frederick L. Boudreau

Frederick "Fred" L. Boudreau Age: 92 Venice, Florida Formerly of Morris Plains & Chester Fred passed away peacefully on Monday April 10, 2017 at the home of his daughter and son in-law in Wayne NJ who were also his care providers over the past few years. Fred was born in North Chelmsford Massachusetts on June 27, 1924 to the late Joseph and Veronica Boudreau He moved to Morristown during his early childhood and spent many years living in the surrounding area. Fred graduated Morristown High School in 1943, leaving earlier in his senior year to join the US Navy and proudly serve our country during WW II. He served as a machinist mate on the USS Yorktown, “The Fighting Lady” in the South Pacific Theater. He received the Presidential Unit Citation, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WW ll Victory Medal and the good Conduct Ribbon. Fred worked as a linemen and splicer for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and Verizon for 42 years before his retirement. In 1952 Fred married his loving wife Joan who preceded him in passing in 2010. They were married for 59 years. Fred and Joan lived in Morris Plains and Chester, NJ before retiring to Venice FL in 1991. They would travel to Lake Hopatcong in the summer and enjoyed many years on Raccoon Island in the company of family and friends. They were devoted Christians and active parishioners wherever they lived. They were members of St. Virgil’s, St. Lawrence and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church’s. Fred loved watching football and baseball. He was an avid walker and bowler, participating in both activities well into his 80’s. Fred held multiple bowling league championships and individual scoring records. Fred was a great father who showed us his love, respect and humility. He will be greatly missed by his children: Veronica, John ( Lisa ), Suzanne ( Mark ) Barisonek, Beverly ( Frank ) deSaules, James ( Kristina ), 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Veronica Betty Whittemore, a brother and sister in law Philip and Sandy Webb and several nieces and nephews and their families. Fred was preceded in death by his brother Norman and sister in-law Carol. Visitation Monday April 17th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Virgil’s Church on Tuesday April 18th at 10 AM. Interment to follow at the Holy Rood Cemetery.
