Obituary of Luca Campanelli

Luca Campanelli, 80, of Morris Plains passed away on June 7, 2022 in Morristown.

Born in Grumo Appula, Bari, Italy, Luca resided in Cranford before moving to Morris Plains 12 years ago.

Luca earned his degree in Perito Electronico from Redentore in Bari, Italy. He went on to teach electronics in the vocational training school at the Institute of the Salesians Redentore in Bari. From there, he decided to come to America at age 27.

Luca worked as an Electronic Technician for L3 Communications – Space & Navigation for over 20 years before he retired. He was also a parishioner of St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains. 

Luca is survived by his loving wife, Sapia Campanelli; and his devoted children, Paul Campanelli, and Maria Pia Gesualdo, and her husband, Raffaele Francesco Gesualdo. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Caterina, Francesco, and Luca; his dear brother, Angelo Campanelli, his beloved sisters, Vita Mingione, Anna Misciagna, and Isabella Belmonte; as well as adored his nieces and nephews, Paul, Frankie, Tony, and Maria Campanelli, Paul, Maria, and Antonette Campanelli, Alphonso, Paul, and Leonara Mingione, Filomena, Rocco, Maria, and Paolo Misciagna, Peter, Paul, and Giovannai Belmonte; AnnaMaria, Frank and Michael Mitacchione, and Enza, Michael and Rosa Toscano. Luca is predeceased by his brother, Francesco Campanelli.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5-9pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Luca will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Entombment will follow at Holy Rood Mausoleum, Morris Township.
