Obituary of Mary P. Harmon

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Harmon, 94, passed away Thursday, July 28, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was a lifelong resident of Bethesda, Maryland, until she relocated to Randolph, New Jersey several years ago.  She is survived by her daughter Terri Kenner(Barry), daughter-in-law Connie Craig, her granddaughters Michelle Maroulis (John), and Ilana Radcliffe (Bob), and 6 great grandsons, Dimos and Magnum Maroulis, and Leo, Asher, Bennett, and Judah Radcliffe.  She is pre-deceased by her husband, Robert, and her daughter Becky.

She was born in Mattoon, Illinois and moved to Bethesda as a child so that her father could find work during the depression.  She met her husband of over 60 years after World War II ended. She worked as a secretary for the National Institutes of Health for many years, retiring in 1986.  She and her husband spent many happy retirement years fixing up a 1741 home on the eastern shore of Virginia.  She enjoyed vacations there with her granddaughters.

She was an avid reader, and would always be happy to get into a political discussion with you.  She enjoyed biking, walking, and shopping.  She loved to cook elaborate meals for her family.  She enjoyed hosting dinner parties for friends, and had some favorite dishes she would share – German chocolate cake, breakfast mush, pot roasts, and mock chicken legs.

Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4-7pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains.
