Obituary of Charlot Sewall Lamm

Please share a memory of Charlot to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charlot Sewall (Linton) Lamm departed this world after a brief illness, yet remains forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Charlot gave time and unconditional love to her husband, three children, their spouses, seven grandchildren, their spouses, and three great grandchildren. Her kindness, sophistication, and independent spirit not only inspired her loved ones to strike out on life's adventures, but also drew them back to her table for Sunday dinners along with friends new and old. She shared her love of reading, hiking, and gardening, taught by example, and served as a mentor to many.

Charlot was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 19, 1933, and spent her youth in Morningside Heights, NYC, Oceanside, and Rockville Center, NY. After graduating Oceanside High School, she attended the Barbizon School of Modeling and worked in a secretarial position in New York City.

She married Richard Lamm in 1954. They started their life together in Frederick, MD and Pearl River, NY before settling in Morris Plains, NJ where she resided for over 50 years. Summer vacations in Maine became a family tradition beloved by four generations and counting.

Charlot was an active member of the community. She not only served as Town Librarian for more than three decades, but also participated and volunteered in many clubs and service organizations. She is remembered for her wry wit, exceptional style, spontaneity, independence, and her evening glass of Chardonnay.

Visiting Hours will be from 5pm – 8pm on Friday August 12, 2022 at Dangler’s Funeral Home, Morris Plains, NJ. Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Virgil’s Church, Morris Plains, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Morris Plains Public Library, 77 Glenbrook Rd, Morris Plains, NJ 07950.
