Obituary of Louis F. Haitmanek

Louis F. Haitmanek, 88, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2022. 

Louis was born on June 11, 1935 in Newark and was raised in Irvington. He graduated from St. Benedict's Prep School in Newark. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. 

Louis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) on June 5, 1958. He then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from NJIT on June 9, 1966. He was a member of the OBT Fraternity.

He worked for many years as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer for Thomas & Betts. More recently, he was self-employed with Haitmanek Engineering Associates. 

In his spare time, Louis enjoyed playing horsehoes and participating in a Bowling League, Musicians Union, and the Florham Park Senior Citizens Club. He was also a driving school instructor.  Louis was a long-time parishoner and usher at Holy Family Church in Florham Park.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carmela (nee Biank); and his two devoted children, Louis A. Haitmanek, of Florham Park, and Jacquelyn Dorn, and her husband, Christopher, of Roxbury. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Jacob Haitmanek and Casey Haitmanek, both of Long Island, NY, and Fiona Dorn, Amelia Dorn, and Gabriella Dorn, all of Roxbury. 

Memorial visitation will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 5-8pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Memorial Mass for Louis will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 10:00am ay Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park. Interment of ashes will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. 

Louis will be fondly remembered by his family, especially his grandkids, whom he loved with all his heart.
