Obituary of Cecile M. Schneider

Please share a memory of Cecile to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cecile Marie Schneider, 91, passed away on September 20, 2022 at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham, NJ.

Cecile was born Nov. 13, 1930 and raised in Corbin, Kentucky. She graduated Valedictorian from Lynn Camp High School. She then attended and graduated from Business College.

She met her husband, Sidney Schneider, from Morristown, NJ, while he was enlisted in the Army and stationed at Fort Knox. They had a loving marriage of 62 years. They had two children who adored their parents very much.

Cecile was a loving, kind and generous person. All those who knew her loved her. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and her gourmet cooking. She also loved horseback riding; going to the seashore; attending the theater; watching the Giants play football on TV; and preparing amazing meals for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, watching them grow and play.

Cecile is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Linda Houston, of Warner, NH, and Judy Armstrong, of Morristown, NJ. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Benjamin Houston, and his wife Jenn, of San Diego, CA, and Nathaniel Houston, and his wife, Corinne, of Pittsburgh, PA; her cherished great-grandson, Tyrus Houston; as well as her dear sister, Elsie Tye, of Michigan; and many special nieces and nephews. Cecile was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sidney, and her cherished grandson, Jason Salame, both in 2014.

A Graveside Service for Cecile will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 11:00am at Beth Israel Cemetery, Cedar Knolls.
