Obituary of Charles F. Riddell, III

Charles “Nick” F. Riddell III, 82, passed away on March 20, 2023 at Care One of Madison in Morristown, NJ.

Born in Chicago, IL, Nick lived in Short Hills and Chatham, NJ, but made his home in Madison, NJ, for the past 30 years.

Nick graduated from Millburn High School in 1958 and received his B.S. Degree in 1962 and his MBA degree in 1969 from Rutgers University. He was self-employed as a CPA until his retirement in 2016.

Over the years, Nick served as Treasurer of Canoe Brook Country Club, was a member of the Rotary Club, and Treasurer of the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain during the Vietnam War.

Nick is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Riddell, and his devoted children, CraigAnn Barbosa, of Thousand Oaks, CA, Catherine Tichy and her husband, Wolfgang, of Bethlehem, PA, and Charles Riddell and his wife, Rebecca, of Gilbert, AZ, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ben and Brian Barbosa, Charles, William, and Peter Tichy, and Hannah and Michael Riddell. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Robert Danelski and his wife, Kirsten, Barbara, Nicole and Jessica Mabry, Christina Hill and her husband, Jim, Sarah Tamweber and her husband, John, and their daughter, Emma, Scott Danelski and his wife, Dena, Christopher Kutcha and his daughter, Mia, and Catherine Kuchta. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Riddell, St. Louis, MO.

Visiting will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 12-2pm, followed by a service at 2pm, at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in Nick’s memory to the Veterans Association of America (www.vetsaa.org).
