Obituary of Nancy D. McGlynn

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Danker McGlynn of Morris Plains, NJ, passed away on May 3, 2023. She was 66 years old.

Born on June 15, 1956, Nancy was the oldest child of Otto and Janet Danker, both of whom predeceased her. She was raised in Cleveland Heights, OH, and Greenwich, CT. Nancy graduated from Southern Connecticut State College in 1978 and held many jobs throughout her career.

Family was Nancy’s joy. She married her beloved husband Mike in 1981 and together had her two biggest loves, her children, Kate and Bill. Mike predeceased Nancy in 2012 and she was lucky to find love again with her dear Phil. Her latest joy came from being a Mimi; she absolutely adored Ben, Ryan, Mikey, Sonny, Clara and Felicity.

Her kitchen was the center of her life; she hosted countless family holidays and meals, friends for cups of coffee and a listening ear, and dance parties blasting her favorite Motown music. She was a Sunday crossword puzzle whiz and was famous for her cheesecake and always spot-on advice.

Nancy leaves behind her two children and four grandsons; daughter Kate Mirett, son-in-law Matt, grandsons Ben and Ryan of Morristown, NJ, and son Bill McGlynn, daughter-in-law Melissa, grandsons Mikey and Sonny of Corte Madera, CA. She is also survived by her husband of five years, Phil Sievering, his children and granddaughters, as well as her two siblings: Ken Danker (Bonnie) of Ellicott City, MD and Jody Adams of Annapolis, MD, and numerous adored nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, May 8, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 125 South Street, Morristown, NJ. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Preschool Advantage (www.preschooladvantage.org), a local non-profit close to Nancy’s heart that funds preschool tuition for families in need.

Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains, NJ.
