As a dear friend from our high school days, I remember Lois as a lovely and loving young woman. She was smart, creative, and wise beyond her years, a trait she carried all her life. She was someone who was friendly to all she encountered. There were a few of us in high school who enjoyed a particular connection with each other and Lois was central to these friendships. I spent many days and nights at her home, enjoying special treatment by her dear mother. I loved the sprawling old mansion - at least that’s what it was to me. So many fond memories were made in that house. And, at school we shared classes, cheering sports teams, and a myriad of school activities. Beyond school days, we went in different directions although stayed in touch for a while. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and rejoiced in the births of my children. While we both were in the active parenting stage our contact lessened, me living in Delaware and Pennsylvania and she in New Jersey. It was only after she found me online maybe 8 or 10 years ago that we reconnected. For a good number of years since (prior to the pandemic and when she was better able to communicate via email) I travelled from PA to spend a day or two visiting Lois. By then she was severely compromised with the MS although that did not hinder our enjoyment of each other’s stories and life experiences. She spoke lovingly of her boys and their adventures. She was always in awe of the care and dedication Robert demonstrated both at home and at work. I heard all about Iris and the concern Lois had for her sister’s challenges. I was so very struck by her gracious, caring and upbeat spirit in the midst of being so very debilitated by her disease. Those visits were a blessing for us both. Lois will forever occupy a warm place in my heart. She was a dear, special friend who knew me sometimes better than I knew myself. Her love was cherished and given freely. I pray she felt my love for her as well.
