Dearest Bernie, indeed what a special person you always were. Through the choir at St. Vincent Martyr we met John and you. What made it so endearing is that despite your own physical problems you took the time to contact me when I was first diagnosed with cancer to offer me your ear or time for a chat whenever I was troubled. How blessed I am to have known you. Rest in peace dear friend.

Dear Barilla Family, I will miss Bernie and the great dinners we had over your house before bowling. I felt like John and I were high school kids again. Denise fondly remembers when Bernie thoughtfully gave her $50 to spend on something that reminded her of her mother when she passed. She took care of everyone she encountered with her generosity and spirit.

Dear Bernie, you and John were the first people I met when Jack and I moved to N J in 1962 and I was given a wonderful welcome. Jack was right he told me what great people you both were as he knew you for a few years before me. I will miss you dearly. Rest In Peace Bernie. I am so glad I got to see you a few weeks ago. Dear Barilla Family~I wasn't blessed to meet your mom personally, but seeing how deeply your dad felt about "his Bernie", I could see she was quite a lady. SVC is "home" to so many, and both your parents are well-loved by many in the congrgation. My husband & I will hold your dear mom, your kind dad & all of you, their family in our prayers & hearts. Dearest Bernie ... what can I say but you were my Mom at work. You introduced me to Dad while we were at Florham Park. Your love radiated from you, drawing people close to you. My heart sank when I hear the news that you were called home. Know that I will carry a small piece of you with me to the end of my days. To Dad, I send I large hug and all my love. To your beautiful family, I thank-you for sharing Bernie with us. The world will be quieter without her.
