Gene was a very special person. Ginny & Gene always made me feel welcome, and I enjoyed my conversations with Gene! I was fortunate to attend a Porfido Christmas party several years ago and it is one of my favorite holiday memories. My love and condolences to your entire family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend Gene. He was a kind and generous soul. We shared our Friday Night Friends with good meals and better company. Gene and I also shared our woodworking hobbies. His incredible wooden animal puzzles started as very personal gifts for his children and his grandchildren. Now most his friends have at least one of those creatures. When I sit in my chair I watch three his animals almost come to life. When I am in my shop I find a beautiful piece of wood Gene shared and I am reminded of the times we spent in his shop. My sadness is tempered by all the wonderful memories we shared. God bless you Gino.

This is my fondest memory of Gene and Ginny, having met them on a trip to Sicily in 2015. We got to know him briefly and saw them once when we visited NJ. We can only imagine what wonderful family and friends he had over all those years. He will truly be remembered!

My heart felt condolences to the Porfido family on the passing of Gene, the family patriarch. I knew Gene as a fellow member at Rockaway River Country Club, as an attorney colleague and as a client. Gene was a decent and honorable man. He loved his family with all his heart. He loved his community. He cared - and doing the right thing was always important to him. I was not only fond of Gene - I respected him. While his passing is sad, I hope and trust that his family and loved ones will take solace in the fact that he lived a full and wonderful life.
