Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Midtgaard Seritello

Elizabeth Mary Midtgaard ("Betsy") Seritello, 82, of West Orange, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 29, 2017 in Ortley Beach, NJ.

Betsy was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Elizabeth and Russell Midtgaard on July 10, 1934. She graduated from Orange High School and went on to earn her degree in Cosmetology at the Cosmetology School of Essex County. She continued her career as a Transcriber for 20 years at the Essex County Probation Department, until her retirement in 2000.

Betsy enjoyed being with her children. family, friends, and her dog, Girlie. She also loved going to Atlantic City, shopping, lunches with her sister, Carol, whom she loved dearly, and sipping Sambuca. Most of all, she loved the conversation and company of Dante Corvelli, Jr. He was her inspiration right until the end. (We could not have endured without him. We love you Dante!!!)

Betsy is survived by her husband, Gaton, of Orange; her beloved children, Debbie, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Gayle and Michael Gerardo, of Chester, Gary, of Boca Raton, FL, and Betsy, of Whippany. She is also survived by her dear sister, Caroline Reitmeyer, of Berkeley, NJ; her beloved brother-in-law, George Cross; her cherished cousin, Kenneth Petroski; as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 4-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass for Betsy will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:00am at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls, NJ. Interment will be private.
