I first met Jagadish online in the mid 90s in the Soc.culture.indian.telugu (SCIT). We shared an interest in movies, particularly those made by Ramgopal Varma. In the often acrimonious environment on SCIT, Jagadish was a rare voice, soft but firm. We became friends, corresponding occasionally by email. Later, his sister, Kavita, became a close family friend, and I met Jagadish in person. He was, just as he was online - well mannered, intelligent, interested in varied things, and fun. Later, we kept in touch through Facebook, with occasional comments on each other's posts. I was, however, unaware of his health issues and sorry to hear of his valiant struggle. Jagadish was a good man and departed well before his time. Aruna and I are sad to know about his passing away and offer our deepest condolences to all the members of the Chilakapati and Vemuri families.
