Memorial Mass
Obituary of Wayne Timothy Foster
Wayne Timothy Foster died peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023, in hospice, at the Lyon’s Veteran’s hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Known to all as Tim, he was born on July 16, 1941, to Jasper & Genevieve Foster in Rumford, Maine. He joined the US Air Force in 1961 & spent his last year of service in Alaska, on the Bering Strait, at Cape Romanzhof, as an electronics & radar technician. Upon release, he found his way to an electrical apprenticeship at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Ct. While there, he realized that he didn’t like heights & needed to change direction. This led him to the school of engineering at the University of Connecticut, Storrs campus, where he met the love of his life, Josephine Vignola(Jo). Upon graduation, they found their way to Morristown, N.J., where he worked at several companies. His career evolved from starting as an electrical engineer, to technical sales support in the bourgeoning computer industry, and eventually founded Foster Associates.
He leaves behind Jo, his devoted wife of 56 years, his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Foster-Fernandez and son-in law, Teo, and adored grandsons, Luke & Mateo, who , due to the disease ,were robbed of knowing their real Pop-Pop .He also leaves behind his brother Joel( Patricia), nephew Bryan( Mona), niece Michelle, nephews Scott, David, Jamie & Thomas. Tim was predeceased by his brother David and his wife Kathy, and nephew Steven. He will be much missed by his Connecticut family, Joseph & Denise Vignola, and their children as well.
Tim loved cooking, gardening, UConn basketball, and doing whatever he could for his family. We will miss his keen intelligence, quick wit, and, of course, his cooking.
A Memorial Mass in his honor will be held at St. Virgil’s church, 250 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 11th.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of N.J., St. Jude‘s Research Hospital, or the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County, NJ.
