Obituary of Harry Joseph Foley

Harry Joseph Foley, 90, of Rockaway, New Jersey, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on November 25, 2023 in Chatham, New Jersey.

 

Harry was born May 8, 1933 in Boonton, New Jersey, the son of the late Harry Stewart Foley and Mary Elizabeth Brenner.  He attended Boonton High School and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corp. in September of 1950 and served until he was Honorably Discharged in April of 1952 at the rank of Sergeant.  

 

Following his Military service, he worked as a Construction Foreman for the majority of his career and retired after working as a Commercial Truck Driver for Structural Stone and Brick in Fairfield, New Jersey.  Upon retirement, he and his wife Carol moved to the Port St. Lucie area in Florida and made many special friends.  He enjoyed coaching baseball while raising a family on “The Block” in RockawayHe was an avid bowler who bowled the elusive 300 game at the age of 78.  He was an enthusiastic Drum and Bugle Corp fan and he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. 

 

Harry is survived by his son Rick Foley of Kingston, Idaho, his son Donald Foley of Morris Plains N.J. and his daughter Robin Ressue of Little Falls N.Y.  He was the proud grandfather of Seth Foley, Kayla Holley, Amanda and Tyler Foley, and Alex and Daniel Ressue and great grandfather of Russell, Analise and Jane Foley, and Charlotte and Harlond Holley. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years Carol Jean Foley, daughter Denise Berry and son Dennis Foley.  Harry is also survived by his loving companion with whom he lived, Carol Gates of Chatham and her family, who warmly welcomed him as a member of their extended family.  And last, but not least, his precious kitty, Millie.
