Obituary of Thomas Edward Burger

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Thomas Edward Burger of Boonton, New Jersey passed away unexpectedly on December 15th, 2023, after a very brief battle with cancer.  Tom was born on September 29th, 1963, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, New Jersey and grew up in West Milford New Jersey.  He graduated from De Paul Catholic High School in 1981 where he played football and served as class president.  Tom attended Penn State University and Chubb Computer School and had a long and very successful career in the IT industry where he rose to the top of his trade. He worked for Nabisco, JP Morgan, Tiffany&Co, Wyndam, Hilton, Realogy, The Children’s Place and Shiseido.  He was working for Party City where his goal was to retire in a few years but sadly became ill at the end of October.    Tom was passionate about his work and renowned in the field for his expertise in IT security.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Charles Burger and Ada Petrosino Burger and his sister Barbara Burger.   Tom is survived by his children Mark and Darcy Burger of Boonton, New Jersey and their mother Beth Orenge Burger of Morris Plains, New Jersey, his brother John Burger and his wife Lauren of New Port Richey, Florida, his brother Charles Burger and his wife Donna of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, his partner Christa Bachman of Clinton, New Jersey, her sons Ben and Joey, and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a loving father who cherished his children and was so proud of who they had become. He could often be heard bragging and sharing stories from their childhood and all they had and were accomplishing.   No father loved his children more.   Tom was a man of integrity who demonstrated compassion and kindness to all.  He was the life of the party, a very funny man, and a best friend to many.  He was the world’s greatest brother and a die-hard Jets, Mets, and Rangers fan.  He liked to float in his pool, go antiquing on the weekends, and just spend time with the people he loved.

Please join us to celebrate Tom on Saturday, January 27th from 1-5 at The Famished Frog in Morristown NJ.
