Obituary of Joseph Bradshaw Montgomery

~~Joseph B. Montgomery, 81, of Madison, New Jersey, passed on Friday, July 14th, 2017. He was born and raised in Madison, NJ. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Valentine Clement, and they resided in Dover, NJ, for a few years. He finished his life’s journey with his family in his hometown of Madison.

He graduated from Madison High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In his early years, he worked at the original Madison YMCA where he set up bowling pins and learned to play checkers and chess. He also enjoyed billiards, playing cards, listening to music, Atlantic City, attending car shows, bowling, fishing and traveling.

Joseph liked to keep busy. He worked at Rowe Manufacturing in Whippany for over 30 years, co-owned a liquor store in Rutherford for a few years and held an evening position as a key puncher at PNC Bank in Parsippany. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Convent Station, New Jersey.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Valentine Clement Montgomery, and his three loving children, Perry, Michele and Debora as well as his three cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Kiera and Kannin.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, from 6-9 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 4 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ 07960. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
