Obituary of Elizabeth S. Kenyon
Elizabeth “Betty” (Stackhouse) Kenyon died on February 24, 2024. Betty was born in 1929 in Maple Shade, NJ, the third of three children (Glenn and Don) born to Joseph and Olive Stackhouse. She had attended Philadelphia College of the Bible and remained highly devoted to the church throughout her life. Betty was especially proud of having worked for over 20 years at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, with her career there having culminated as assistant to the Vice President of the University. Betty actively volunteered throughout her life and while she was respected for her many skill sets, she was even more respected for her kindness. Betty’s many talents included watercolor and oil painting, drawing, music and gardening.
Betty also supported Lloyd throughout his ministry of 65 years, having served at three churches – Richmond Hill in Long Island, Calvary Baptist in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Preakness Baptist in Wayne, New Jersey. Throughout Lloyd’s ministry, Betty never lost her sense of independence, and was proud to have worked at William Patterson College until her retirement and had actively volunteered for inner city reading programs in the early 1970’s. In retirement Betty and Lloyd led tours to Israel, Greece, and Turkey, and traveled to 51 different nations. Following Lloyd’s passing in 2019, Betty moved to Arbor Terrace in Morris Plains, NJ.
Betty is survived by her three children, Mark (Joanie Kenyon), Gwen (Dave Rosenblatt), and Lynn (Chris Panico). She is also survived by 6 greatly loved grandchildren; Jonathan, Lori, Caroline (David Odell), Jessica, Jennifer, and Matthew, one great-granddaughter Violet, along with her step-granddaughter Kari (Mike Delsoldato) and their children, Mikaela, and Lillian.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, with Pastor Jennifer Lovallo at 11:00am at the Milford United Methodist Church, 206E Ann St., MIlford, PA 18337.
