Obituary of Paul Freeland
Paul was born on a rainy night in the corner backroom of the big white farmhouse that sat on the curve of Westbrook Road in Macopin, N.J. His family already included two teenage sons.
He graduated from a two-room schoolhouse and Butler High School, attended Houghton College, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BS degree in chemistry.
During his four years of service in the USAF, he married his wife, Claire, and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California.
Returning to NJ, he worked at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill for his entire career.
Any commitment Paul made was a lifetime promise - to his family, his work, his church, Kiwanis, and the Interfaith Food Pantry.
He was a member of two barbershop choruses, the Dapper Dans of Harmony and later the Morris Music Men. He loved his family and friends; he loved sailing his catamaran in Maine every summer. He was a gregarious, funny, loving person.
He leaves his wife, Claire, children Patricia, Paul Jr., and Carol Fennimore, and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 11:00am-12:00pm, with a Memorial Service at 12:00pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains.
