Obituary of Robert V. Fletcher

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert V. Fletcher, 87, of Madison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of June 8th, 2023.

He was a loving father, an enthusiastic grandfather and a dedicated husband.

Robert leaves behind Cecilia, his wife of 57 years, their son Daniel and his wife Madhuri, and their two granddaughters Aashna and Jayna.  He is also survived by his brother Donald and his wife Trish.

Born in East Orange in 1937, Robert grew up in Irvington, and spent many summers down the Jersey Shore.

Robert graduated from Irvington High School in 1956, and began a career soon after as a Field Engineer for National Cash Register (NCR).  As the mechanical gear-based cash registers moved over to electronic computers, so did Robert, constantly updating his training on the latest technologies.

Robert married Cecilia in November of 1966, and they bought their house in Madison two years later in 1968.

In 1976, their son Daniel was born.  Robert passed onto his son Daniel his love of home maintenance, woodworking, and electronics, as well as his caring spirit and his witty humor.

Robert retired from his full-time career at NCR after 37 years of service. He enjoyed retirement, but was drawn back into chasing has passions through a part time job at Rame Hart precision machine shop, where he combined his love of craftsmanship and his passion for computing, where he worked happily for many more years.

In recent years, Robert rekindled old friendships and cultivated new ones. His social and giving demeanor will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 9:30am-10:00am, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00am, at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. (For those who cannot attend the Memorial Mass, you may view it via Livestream on the Church's website: (www.svmnj.org).) Interment of Ashes will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison.

Arrangements are under the care of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, Madison.
