Obituary of Clara Galdi

Clara Galdi, 95, passed away on June 10, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Auletta, Italy, and lived in Salerno, Italy, prior to coming to the United States. For the past 57 years she lived in Morris Plains, NJ.

Clara worked for the Mennen Company, Morris Plains, NJ, until her retirement in 1991. She was known for her talent as a seamstress and worked as a self-employed seamstress out of her home. She was a member of St. Virgil’s Church, Morris Plains.

Clara is survived by her children, Lucia Galdi and her husband, Frank Swiontkowski, Rosalba DeFonte and her husband, Mark, and Eugene Galdi and his wife, Lisa, as well as her brothers and sisters, Camelina D’Urso, Roberto Scaffa and Maria Scaffa from Salerno, Italy. She was an amazing “Nonna” to her cherished grandchildren, Alicia DeFonte, Nicholas Swiontkowski, Matthew Defonte, Joseph Swiontkowski, Krista Galdi and Jenna Galdi.

Clara was predeceased by her husband, Algerino Galdi in 1989.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10am at St. Virgil’s Church, Morris Plains, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ.
