Obituary of Dr. Jodi Levy Yissachar

Please share a memory of Dr. Jodi to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dr. Jodi Levy Yissachar, beloved wife and mother, daughter, sister, aunt, respected physician, devoted community member, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 27 at the age of 58.

Jodi’s life was marked by extraordinary resilience and a deep commitment to helping others. Despite facing significant medical challenges early on, she turned adversity into motivation by becoming a physician and dedicating her career to improving the lives of her patients.

In addition to her professional achievements, Jodi was a cornerstone of her community. She was actively involved in Temple B’nai Or in Morristown, NJ, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. She also contributed greatly to the Gottesman RTW Academy and Shongum Lake communities, and was a committed advocate for Israel.

Known for her sharp wit, contagious laughter, and compassionate heart, Jodi cherished, above all, spending time with family and friends. She loved celebrating events, frequently being “the life of the party.”

Jodi is survived by her husband, Ori, and their son, Noah; her mother, Joyce Levy; her sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Paul Matelsky; and her niece and nephew, Loren and Jordan Matelsky.

A Funeral Service will be held at Temple B'nai Or (60 Overlook Road, Morristown, NJ 07960) on Wednesday, July 31, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Sinai Cemetery, 228 Chrystal St., (Dover) Randolph NJ 07869.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rabbi Z. David Levy Endowment Fund at Temple B’nai Or, created by her late father Dr. Ron Levy, to support the needs of the entire community.

Jodi will be deeply missed. May her memory be a blessing.
