Obituary of Eugenie Carroll Crosby

Please share a memory of Eugenie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eugenie Carroll Crosby, nee Ryan, passed away of natural causes at 81years of age on August 19, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ. Daughter of William and Gertrude Ryan, she was baptized at St. Margaret’s in Morristown, New Jersey and resided in Morris County, New Jersey all her life.

Eugenie - known throughout her life as Jeanne - graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey with a B.A. in Sociology. Rising through the ranks of her profession, she ended up heading the HR departments for Suburban Propane and later Chase Manhattan Bank.

In 1973 she married James Allen Crosby (Jack) in New York City. During nearly 30 years together, they traveled the world, wined and dined and truly enjoyed life - and each other. Jack passed away in 2000.

Afterwards, Jeanne continued to spend wonderful times with life-long friends, her Godchildren, and her step-son, Mark and his partner Joe Handy.  She was a faithful church-goer and went to church several times each week.  She was also a life-long fan of The Young and the Restless and all of the rest of the CBS daytime lineup.

In 2021, Jeanne became incapacitated and moved into an assisted living environment at Sunrise Senior Living in Madison, NJ.  She still enjoyed, until recently, reminiscing with friends who dropped by to see her there.

Jeanne is survived by her step-son, Mark Crosby of Venice, California.

She will be interred at Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham, New Jersey - next to Jack. A short service will be held at the grave site on Tuesday, August 27th at 11AM at Fair Mount Cemetery, 233 Hillside Avenue, Chatham, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Corpus Christi Church in Chatham, New Jersey (Jeanne’s church for decades).

Arrangements are under the care of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, Madison, NJ.
