Obituary of Anthony J. Romano

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anthony J. "Tony" Romano, 75, of Morris Township, Nj passed away suddenly on September 6, 2024. He was a beloved husband and friend, and was an advisor and community leader with remarkable character and boundless generosity. He left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Newark to a loving family, his journey took him to Maplewood where he excelled as an athlete at Columbia High School and later to Seton Hall University in South Orange where he earned his degree in business. He later tested for and became a Certified Public Accountant.

Tony's professional life was distinguished by his tenure at Price Waterhouse and his pivotal role as Chief Financial Officer of Van Beuren Management. In that capacity, he oversaw many of the investments of Wesray Capital Corp. However, his dedication extended far beyond the corporate world, as he provided invaluable guidance to numerous non-profit organizations, including America's Promise, the Branch Brook Park Alliance, the Park Avenue Club Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, Life Camp, Malaria No More, the Points of Light Foundation, and the Office of the Special Envoy for Malaria to the United Nations Secretary General.

For over three decades, Tony was a cherished advisor to the Lambert Bridge Winery, where his wisdom and  experience were deeply valued. His legacy is one of unwavering commitment, kindness, and a profound impact on the lives of many. His generosity, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all of us.

Personally, Tony had a love of sports all his life, especially the Seton Hall Pirates whose many games he attended as a season ticket holder. His love of animals brought 5 beautiful Rough Collies into his life.

Tony is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Laura, his sister-in-law, Laura, his cousins, the Labarca family, the McMahon family, the Sclafani family, the Webb family, the McKenzie family and many other cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Josephine Romano, his brother David, and his many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 5pm to 8pm at the Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ.

Flowers are welcome but donations would be appreciated if made to the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter, East Hanover, NJ (www.njshelter.org)and the Seeing Eye, Morristown, NJ (www.seeingeye.org).
