Obituary of Michael W. Veiga

Michael Walter Veiga

(April 20, 1951 – October 4, 2024)

Michael Walter Veiga, 73, passed away peacefully from natural causes at his home on Friday, October 4 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Mike was born on April 20, 1951 in East Orange, New Jersey to the late Daniel Veiga and Ann Koroluk. After attending Point Pleasant Borough High School, he served in the United States Air Force.  He worked in Facilities in both the Point Pleasant and Brick Township School District for many yearsbefore retiring from that career. During his retirement, Mike made sure the remaining years of his mother Ann’s life were as comfortable as possible, surrounded by loving family.

Mike took great joy in holiday home decorating with his growing Christmas village collection, appreciating the nostalgia of vintage TV and music, and rooting on the amazin’ New York Mets while enjoying a fresh Jersey Mike’s submarine sandwich or hot Vesuvio pizza.

Mike is survived by his five siblings, Daniel Veiga and wife Flora in Niceville, Florida, Kathy Veiga in Morris Plains, New Jersey, Steve Veiga and wife Jae in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Irene Austin and husband Joel in Bath, Maine, and Pete Veiga and wife Debbie in Vernon, New Jersey; three of his aunts, Helen Melillo of Merritt Island, Florida, Margie Tinkham of Mesa, Arizona, and Irene Koroluk of Union, New Jersey; and his many nephews and nieces.

Family and friends will be paying their respects on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 1-4pm, with a Prayer Service at 3pm, at the Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, New Jersey.  Mike will be laid to rest on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Catharine's Cemetery, 1100 W. Chicago Blvd., Sea Girt, New Jersey. A memorial service for Michael will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey at a later date.
