Obituary of Anthony Angelo Gentile

Anthony A. Gentile, 85, of Morris Plains, NJ passed away on October 14, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Passaic, Anthony resided in Morris Plains for the past 51 years.

He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Reservist from 1962-1968.

Anthony graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University in Madison. He worked as a Director of Information Systems for Warner Lambert until he retired in 1984.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Diana Gentile, of Morris Plains, NJ, and his devoted children, Michael and Kathy Gentile, of Randolph, NJ, and Beth and Kevin O’Connor, of Randolph, NJ. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Amelia and Rudi Mezosi, of Senoia, GA, Donna Ferrier, of Lakewood, NJ, Angela and Robert Oehley, of Morristown, NJ, and Andrew and Gisele Gentile, of Foley, AL; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Stephen and Amie Gentile, of Beachwood, NJ, Amanda and Brandon Muir, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Kelly Gentile, of Budd Lake, NJ, Jessica Gentile, of Randolph, NJ, Christina O’Connor, of Randolph, NJ, and Shana O’Connor, of Randolph, NJ; his adored great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Jack Gentile; and his many nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his son, Stephen Gentile, and his brother-in-law, David Ferrier.

Anthony was an avid New York Jets fan and season ticket holder for 50 years. He was equally as passionate of a fan of the New York Mets. He vacationed in Naples, FL during the winter months. In the warmer NJ weather, Anthony could always be found working on his lawn, and gardening. Most of all, Anthony loved spending time with his family.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:30am-10:30am in the Vestibule of St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30am at the Church. Entombment of Ashes will be at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anthony’s name may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). 

Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains, NJ.
