Dear Family of Barbara Gould,
I am a faculty member in the Art History Program at Seton Hall. I never got to know Barbara on a personal level, but I knew her long and well enough to realize what a wonderful person she must have been.
I was so saddened and in disbelief to read about her passing, our dear colleague. Initially, I wasn’t sure if perhaps another person was referenced, not the lovely, always pleasant, and ever helpful colleague we all came to cherish. Barbara always struck me as youthful and pleasant. It is difficult to grasp that she left us.
I loved working with Barbara as she always had answers and solutions to any tech problems we might have had. She was so pleasant to interact with and never shied away from coming right over to extend hands-on classroom support with any technical and media issues.
Years ago, I recall speaking to Barbara in more detail when I shared with her how much I thought she resembled Lauren Ambrose, one of my favorite actors in HBO film productions.
Barbara always had a smile on her face. She was ever present and patient. She always had solutions, no matter how small or large the tech meltdowns may have been. She personified competence and kindness. What a loss for the Seton Hall community and for her family and friends.
May we take comfort in knowing how many lives she touched and what a difference she made in our lives, even if we never had a chance to get to know her outside the work context.
Barbara will be missed at Seton Hall, but she will also be fondly remembered with the smile with which she greeted one when entering the TLTC area.
Thinking of you during these difficult days and hours. With gratitude for all that Barbara has done for our students and faculty at Seton Hall. She will always be remembered!

Barbara welcomed us to the neighborhood when we moved here in 2016. She was always there with a friendly smile and a helping hand. She loved animals and took care of our cats whenever we went away. Our cats all loved her in return. She helped to pick up our kids from school when Grandma was sick last year. And we always knew that Barbara was keeping an eye out for everyone in the neighborhood.
We will always remember our conversations out on the driveway. We will miss seeing Barbara and Harley going on their walks. Thank you for being the best friend and neighbor we could have asked for. We will never forget you.

I am sending my deep condolences to Mrs. Gould and to all who loved Barbara. I knew Barbara as the welcoming presence at the TLTC at Seton Hall. Barbara was the front line coordinator at the Center and was always there to help and offer assistance. No detail was too small for her to give it her full and professional attention. She handled it all--big and small tech matters, especially for us faculty. Her professionalism and abilities were the bright light that helped all of us navigate this brave new world of tech. She will be greatly missed.
Prayers and blessings for her and to her family and friends.

Since moving to Northern Avenue in 1986 we have watched Barbara grow from a friendly preteen to an accomplished, hardworking, multitalented woman. We always enjoyed our conversations with her over the years, whether it was discussing yard work, happenings on the block, or just the weather. Barbara was a cheerful and caring neighbor. Driving around town we’d often see her devotedly walking Harley, her faithful companion. The two Barbaras at 12 Northern Avenue personified the bond between mother and daughter, helping and caring for each other and enjoying life together.
It was a privilege to know Barbara and we will miss her very much.

Barbara Gould was a great friend and co-worker and I will miss her very much around the office. It's been hard walking past your desk and you not being there. I am going to miss hearing about your adventures on your motorcycle trips. I would always joke with you about doing burnouts on the University Green and around the University Seal. The world is a little less bright without you and may you rest in peace.

I will always treasure the memories we shared during the Red Rockers trip with the GSHOG. I especially recall the time that we got stuck behind a free range cow waiting for it to cross the road so we can catch up to the rest of the group! Your hearty laugh, bright smile, and “your love of life” disposition will forever be etched in my heart and mind when I think of you.

Q: How did you meet Barbara?
A: We met back in 2018 at a group we joined due to the shared love for motorcycles. Her “bubbly” personality. Her persistent smile and friendly demeanor is what I will always remember and miss. After she left the group I would often see her at charity rides and she always said hello!! Gone too soon but never forgotten. Rest easy sweet friend. Until we meet again. -Celia Waltz

We lived next to Barbara for a few years and she was the best neighbor ever and a super awesome running partner for my daughter. She taught me to kick box and always had the best smile and positive attitude. Gonna miss her pictures and stories of her adventures on her bike and wineries with her Mom. RIP!!

Barbara was more than a coworker: she was a friend, a guide, and an impeccable motivator. She helped me through so many tough moments throughout the years. One thing would always remain constant, our ability to acknowledge that life is hard and sometimes you have to do the best that you can. I will miss her very much. Stay Fresh Cheesebags!

I don't really "know" Barbara, but I met her at the Gulf station in FP a few years ago. We were both gassing up our bikes, and mine wouldn't start. She helped give me a push to jump start the bike and then followed me home to make sure I arrived OK which just shows you what a nice person she was. We became friends on Facebook after that encounter. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My first memory of Barbara….she didn’t like hugs and kisses to greet or to say see you, but in time, she got used to them, being my last memory a group hug that she asked for and her beautiful smile.
Our friendship symbolic contract was signed by holding my boobs when you were my passenger!! We laughed like crazy!!
I was blessed and proud to be your friend. Your dedication and love to your mom and Harley boy as well as to GSHOG and NJRR were admirable.
Barbara, you will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Until we meet again my friend.

Dear Barbara,
I miss you more than words can say. It’s so hard coming to work and not seeing you at the front desk, smiling and keeping everything running smoothly.
Who’s going to fill the peppermint puffs now?
I still catch myself looking at the clock at 3 pm, waiting for you to call me over and say, “Shima, I’m leaving. Come sit at the front desk.” It’s just so strange without you here.
I always told everyone that TLTC feels like home to me, and now it truly feels like I’ve lost a family member. You built such a special bond with me from the very first day I met you. It felt like I had known you for years.
I learned so much from you. You were the most amazing supervisor, and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to work with you.
I’ll always remember our conversation about motorcycles. You said you could imagine how cute it would be if I rode a Vespa, and that one day I should get one and name it “Harley” just for you.
Love you and miss you.
RIP

Diva Babs, I keep hoping that when I walk into work tomorrow, you will be sitting at your desk, and this was a horrible dream. You were how I started my day, whether we talked about Charlie and Candy Mountain, talking dogs, weekend adventures, second puberty, or wondering if security caught us doing something silly. I will miss our early morning shenanigans. I will never forget the hilarity we found at Bunny's or other fun times throughout the last 20 years. I remember our last conversation about how you saved Halloween because you brought in the angry pumpkin. You are a good person, a wonderful friend, a remarkable coworker and a gentle soul. Thank you for the cherished memories. Rest in peace, my friend.
