Obituary of Loretta M. Critchley, ESQ.

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Loretta Barnes Critchley, 56, of Morristown, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 28, 2024.  Born in Jersey City, Loretta attended Our Lady of Victories Grammar School and St. Dominic Academy for high school.  After graduating from Boston College with honors, Loretta attended Seton Hall Law School.  She practiced law for many years, but her most treasured accomplishment in life was being a mother to her three boys.

Loretta was the beloved wife of 30 years to Paul, and devoted mother to Lieutenant Matthew Critchley-US Navy; Ensign Conor Critchley-US Navy; and Brendan.

She was a loving daughter to Carol and the late George Barnes and a cherished granddaughter to the late Adele and William Keltz.  She is survived by her sister, Jennifer Willis (Gregg), her favorite aunt Joan (Guaimano) and her dear cousin, John Guaimano (Lauren). She was blessed to marry into the Critchley family who loved her as one of their own, including father-in-law Joseph and the late Dorothy Critchley, in-laws Joseph Critchley (Janie), Kasey Critchley, Regina Critchley (Bob), Carol Critchley (Kurt), Maureen Critchley, Kevin Critchley (Natalie), and Colleen Critchley.  Special thanks to Kasey and Maureen, who were a tremendous support to Loretta in her final days.  She also had the honor of being called Aunt, Great Aunt and Cousin to many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she deeply loved.

A funeral mass to celebrate Loretta’s life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 4 Convent Road, Morristown.  Her family is comforted and grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support.
