Obituary of Robert A. DeVenezia

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" DeVenezia on November 21 in Naples, Florida.

Bob was born on September 14, 1945 in Newark, NJ. He grew up in Morristown and attended Assumption School and Bayley Ellard High School. He furthered his studies at John Carroll University and Seton Hall University.

Bob served his country honorably in the US Marines and was part of the 1st Battalion, 26th Marines, 5th Marine Division. A US war veteran serving in Vietnam, Bob had the distinction of being selected for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. “Semper Fidelis” – Latin for “Always Faithful,” was imprinted on his heart. He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 3401 and American Legion Post 59 in Morris Plains.

Bob spent most of his life in New Jersey and worked as a builder and managed his own construction company. There he met Adele, his loving wife of 21 years.

Personable and outgoing, Bob lived his life surrounded by family and friends. A one time semi-professional football player, Bob was an avid sports fan. He loved all kinds of sporting events, playing golf, 50’s music, going to concerts and reading all types of books.

Bob could converse easily on any subject and created a wide circle of friends.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Adele, sisters, Carol Meola and Frances Ott, and his brother, Jack DeVenezia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anne DeVenezia, brother Chris DeVenezia, sister JoAnne Connolly, and brother-in-law Eddie Connolly.

Visitation will be held at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains on Wednesday, December 18th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains on Thursday, December 19th at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.

Donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that was close to his heart.
