Obituary of Marilyn Schmitt Geffken

Marilyn “Lynne” Joan Schmitt Geffken, age 77, of Madison, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. She was born March 2, 1947, in New York City to the late Henry and Joan Schmitt.

Lynne grew up in Florham Park, NJ, with her sister Karen and brother Michael. During her school years at Bayley Ellard, she was active in the community with her family and friends. In her twenties, she enjoyed traveling and going on adventures in Europe. In her thirties, she met the love of her life, Geoffrey.

In her later years, she enjoyed giving back to the community, volunteering her time with Lynne, a devout Catholic, loved spending time with her husband, Geoff, in her Madison, NJ, home, whether designing new quilts, gardening, reading a good book, or watching TV and movies. She took an avid enjoyment in her two sons' lives, Matthew and Benjamin. She was always teaching as a Cub Scout Den Leader, cheering them on through Bowling, Soccer, and Baseball, amongst other sports. seniors at Juniper Village in Chatham, NJ.

Lynne is survived by her husband, Geoffrey; her sister and brother, Karen and Michael; and her sons, Matthew and Benjamin.

A celebration of Lynne’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Burroughs, Kohr, and Dangler Funeral Home, with a prayer service beginning at 5:00 pm.
