Obituary of Richard L. Petersen
~~Richard “Dick” L. Petersen, 87, lifetime Madison resident, died suddenly on September 18, 2017. Dick was a graduate of Madison High School and attended Seton Hall University. He was an avid reader and history scholar specializing in WWII. He served in the US Merchant Marines, the National Guard, and was also a lifetime member of the NRA. He loved animals and nature and was a long time member of the Florham Park Pistol and Rifle Club. He is survived by his son, John, of Denville; his daughter, Erica Petersen, of Morris Township; his granddaughter, Rachel, of Philadelphia; and his cherished companion, Barbara Webster. Visitation is Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2-5pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison. A service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Newark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center (https://www.sthuberts.org/).
