Obituary of Dr. Renato S. Prati

Dr. Renato S. Prati, 80, passed away on December 17, 2017 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, lived in Staten Island, NY, prior to moving to Denville, NJ, 23 years ago.

Dr.  Prati graduated from New York University and received his Degree of Medicine in 1961 from Downstate Medical Center, State University of NY.  He worked as a Psychiatrist for 50 years until his retirement in 2011. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann (Laspada) Prati, as well as his devoted children, Lisa and her spouse, Janine, Lori Racanelli and her husband, Vincent, and Michael Prati and his wife, Catherine, and John Prati. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Jessica, Juliana, Jonathan, Emma and Gabriella, his nephew, Thomas, and his nieces, Lynn, Alyse and Barbi, as well as a sister, Theresa Landano and her husband, Robert, and a sister-in-law, Esther Laspada.

Dr. Prati loved history, the theatre and enjoyed painting, traveling and teaching his grandchildren fishing. His life revolved around his family. He was a dedicated doctor who loved his patients. He was also a die-hard Jets and Met fan.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 11:00 am at The Church of Christ the King, 16 Blue Mill Rd., New Vernon, NJ 07976. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
