Dear Bobbie and Judy, So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom, Aunt Gloria. Thinking of all the wonderful times had growing up in the wonderful loving Sharen household. You were all my family too. Aunt Gloria was truly the coolest Aunt and so modern way before that time. Beautiful lady Aunt Gloria. Love always. Patty

One incredible woman. I did not realize she was not doing well. She was so loving and kind to all, and a true advocate for the safety of children going to and from school. She was a real stickler when it came to safety enforcement at the curb in front of Central Avenue School. If you stepped over that line, boy did she let you know, haha. God help those drivers who tried to drive up Walnut Street and past the Do-Not_Enter Sign ! How fortunate we were to have someone like that growing up in Madison. She was such a good soul and everyone loved her. I remember being on her safety patrol team in the 70's. She taught me alot and as I moved into a law enforcement career decades later, I found myself in charge of the Crossing Guards in Chatham and their training. I passed on her style of command presence at the post and when talking to the kids, knowing it just takes a couple of seconds for something to go wrong. I even spray painted "Miss Sharen" lines on the sidewalks at all School Posts in town just like she did. Trust me, if the kids crossed the line, they knew ! RIP ! A really sweet lady !

I was on the safety patrol for Mrs Sharen when I went to Central in the mid 80’s. What can I say? She just had a way about her. She was loving and tough at the same time. Someone that was comforting to me every time I saw her face.( I was the kid who cried going to school everyday) She was definitely a huge part of my life at Central Ave. I will always remember the barbecues she and Hank had for us safety patrol kids at the end of the year. I was lucky enough to see her sitting on her porch one day a couple of summers ago when I was driving by.... I stopped to say hi and we must have talked for almost two hours! I was so glad that I stopped. She was as sharp as ever, even if she was moving just a bit slower. We caught up and reminisced about old times, and she told me about you, her family. She was so proud. I hope you can all take comfort in knowing that she lived an amazing, fulfilling life, and had such an enormous impact on so many kids lives who knew her. Thank you for sharing her with us. I know that I am a better person for having known her.

My sincerest condolences to Bob, Judy, and your families. Gloria was so very proud of, and loved, you all; you were the highlights of her life. I met your mom, in the early 1960's. I knew, from that first moment, that she was a strong, endearing, and very special woman. Gloria has left a fond imprint, in the hearts, and minds, of so many. Dance on, 'Mrs. Claus'.....you will be missed.
