Barbara graduated from Summit High School and earned a BS Degree in Business from Misericordia University in 1967. She worked as an Interior Decorator for 28 years and lovingly took care of her family as a homemaker. She belonged to St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison, and was a member of the Garden Club of Madison where she also served as the club’s board member, vice president, co-chaired the Civics Committee and New Member Committee. She was a member of the Madison, Baltusrol, and Belfair Golf Clubs as well as the Noe Pond Club. She received citations from the Madison Development Commission for contributions to May Day 2012 and the Garden Club of America Club Civic Improvement Award.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas H. Carey, and her children, Christopher (Alister), Colleen, and Jill (Luis). She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Jim), Brookfield, CT, and her brother, Carl (Laura), Huntington Station, NY, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, Ryan, Peter, Brendan, Shepard, Morgan and Walker and her nephews, Ryan, Kyle, Keith, Trevor, and her niece, Erin. She was predeceased by her sister, Pam (Steve), Media, PA.
Barbara was an extraordinary giving and loving person. But the singular reflection of her character was her devotion to her family. She loved spending time with her 8 grandsons, opening her home to her extended family as well as walking on the beach in Hilton Head, gardening, traveling and decorating.
