Obituary of Louis B Gordon

Louis B. Gordon, 92, passed away at University Medical Center of Princeton, Plainsboro, NJ. He was born in Beaumont, TX, and lived in Whippany, NJ for 54 years prior to moving to Plainsboro a year ago.

Louis graduated from Beaumont Texas High School. He attended Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1946 and his Master of Music degree in 1947. He went on to earn his Doctor of Musical Arts in 1962.

Louis was a Professor of Music at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, where he taught for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and a member of Temple B’nai Or, Morristown, NJ. He proudly served his country during World War II as an Army Air Corps cadet.

Louis is survived by his devoted wife, Anita Gordon, and his loving children, Alan Gordon and his wife, Judith Downer, and Joshua Gordon and his wife, Naomi Botkin. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Robert Gordon and Susannah Gordon.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 2:00pm for a funeral service at Temple B’nai Or, 60 Overlook Road, Morristown, NJ 07960. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
