Obituary of Charlotte L. Quintana
Charlotte L. Quintana passed away at The Oaks at Denville, Denville, N.J. on Monday, August 20, 2018, just 13 days before her 102nd birthday. Born in Woodhaven Queens, N.Y., Charlotte graduated from Richmond Hill High School and Katherine Gibbs College. She was married in 1939 to C.H. Manuel "Quinnie" Quintana. Before beginning her family, Charlotte worked as a personal secretary at New York Life Insurance Company.
Charlotte's devotion to her family, church, and community motivated her to become active and take on leadership roles. Moving to Morris Plains, N.J. in 1954, she served as a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader, she became President of the Morris Plains PTA, and was elected to two terms on the Board of Education. Charlotte served as secretary to the MP Planning Board, was a long-term Republican Committee-woman, and served many years as an election poll worker. Giving generously of her time to the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, Charlotte was President of the Presbyterian Women's Association for numerous terms, and was active in the Couples’ Club and Fun, Food & Fellowship groups, serving several times as President of each.
Charlotte and Quinnie were married for 54 years, traveling extensively, particularly to Florida and Hawaii. They spent three years in Kwajalein, U.S. Marshall Islands where he worked for Bell Labs. Quinnie loved boats and Charlotte loved swimming, therefore they owned several boats over the years, spending many happy hours, whether on Barnegat Bay or at the marina. Their love of boating led them both to be active members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 4-2, Union, N.J.
Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Kenneth Quintana and his wife Dr. Pamela Steinert, and Jeanne Frost and her husband Charles. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: KC Quintana, Greg Quintana, Betsy Frost-Anderson, Sheri Frost Leo, Scott Frost, and her step-granddaughter Alexandra Fastige. Charlotte treasured her six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Lucas, Brooke, Ann-Charlotte, Bobby, and Penny. She is also survived by two nieces, Marilyn Arents and Elaine Stoll, daughters of her dear deceased brother, Dr. Eugene Ebeling.Friends and family are invited to gather at the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, 400 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 3:00 PM for a memorial celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made in her memory to her favorite charity, Market Street Mission, PO Box 1937, Morristown, NJ 07960 or online at: www.marketstreet.org.
