Obituary of Joane Caufield

Joane Doris Caufield, formerly Joane Doris Davitian, born Joane Doris Fischer went home into the arms of Jesus on Friday November 30th, 2018. Joane was born to Louis Fischer and Gladys Bailey Fischer in Jersey City, New Jersey.

In her lifetime, Joane (also nicknamed to many," Kelly" and "Bunny"), always involved herself in church, community and civic events and organizations, predominantly in Hudson County and for a period in Bergen County.

After graduating from Memorial High School in West New York, N.J. Joane was involved in many parades, was a Girl Scout Leader for the disabled, sang in various choirs and choral events, was involved in Holiday productions, was a business owner in Hillsdale, Westwood, and Fairview, as well as a board member of the Hillsdale Chamber of Commerce.

Joane was a Youth Leader for 7 years in Park Ridge, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for years in various church communities. She was also very involved with the P.T.A. at her children's primary school in Hillsdale.  She attended modern dance classes, and loved music.

Married to Edward Davitian, Joane assisted her then husband with his advertising shoots, lived in Hillsdale with her 2 children and then moved back to Hudson County with her children after her divorce.

It was in her return to Hudson County that she met her 2nd husband, Robert Caufield.  They loved to go dancing and spend time with family and friends. Joane remained married to him until his passing.  

Joane's profession was an Executive Secretary working for Walt Disney and for the American Cancer Society’s head film, print and tv director and producer. She worked with many celebrities.  She was an extra on TV and at movie shoots in N.Y.C.

Joane graduated from the famous Barbizon Modeling School. In years to come Joane became a paralegal and worked in NYC. She was also active in a full face clown and mime ministry group and became a Notary Public. She became a Home Health Care Aid within Hudson County.

Joane was a fierce patriotic person and a faithful and strong Christian. She raised her children with a strong Christian faith.  She was also a member of the Dickens Society and was published in a NY magazine for an article she wrote on Time. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Hudson County and served as a devout volunteer for the Hudson County Democratic Organization.

Joane outlived her parents and brothers and sisters to date- Dorothy, Gladys, Louis, Allen and Edward. 

Joane was best known for being fun, compassionate, loving and one who had a caring heart! She was known for her great smile, for being a light and a joy to many! She cared deeply for those in need especially the homeless, animals and veterans. Joane fiercely adored her 2 daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughter.  

Joane is survived by her daughters Lisa Davitian and Janine Davitian and her husband Michael Reiner, granddaughter Rachel and her husband Johan, granddaughter Sarah and great granddaughter Natalie; Rachel and Johan’s daughter. 

Joane will be laid to rest at on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11am at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, N.J. In lieu of Flowers and Cards, the Family is asking to make donations to Habitat For Humanity &/or The Milo Foundation CA. – they set up shelters for the  animals/pets impacted by the CA fires. Please make the donations to these organizations In memory of Joane Doris Caufield.
