Obituary of Catherine T. Cass

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

CASS, CATHERINE Theresa.  (KAY) died peacefully at home Jan. 10, 2019, surrounded by her family.  Born in Jersey City, NJ on Oct. 27, 1932 to Edward Reynolds and Mary (Shea) Reynolds, Kay was graduated from St. Josephs H.S. in West New York, NJ, and began employment at MetLife, NYC.

Kay was married to the love of her life, Gene, for 64 years, until his death in 2018.  She is survived by her 5 children: Mary Lou Skillin (John), Peg (Denise), Gene Jr., Cathy Bachmann (Steve), Bob (Carmen) and granddaughters Kate & Molly Bachmann.

Red-haired with a vivacious personality, Kay was the family genealogist traveling to libraries near and far to complete her family tree.  A lifelong Democrat she had a keen interest in social justice.  Kay enjoyed bird watching, following the Giants and the Mets, and gourmet cooking.  She had a talent for fashion, sewing her own clothes as well as her children’s and she always looked like she stepped out of the pages of Vogue Magazine.  Beautiful as she was, her first priority was always her family.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Kay on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at 10 am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison.  Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or a charity of your choice.
