Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judith Brown Raas, 55 year Madison resident, died peacefully at home on January 21, 2019, supported by and her loving husband, Rene William (Bill) Raas of 65 years, many family members and her devoted caregiver, Ia Khvedelidze.

Born in Morristown on September 5, 1933, Judy grew up in Nutley and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from The College of William and Mary, class of 1955. While lifeguarding on Lake Mohawk, Judy met Bill and they began their life's journey together.

Judy was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, caring mother & grandmother and loyal friend.

Loving children, Judy was an elementary school teacher and taught Sunday school at the Presbyterian Church. She was very active in AAUW and served on the board of the Madison Library for many years. Being athletic, Judy enjoyed swimming, biking and sailing but needlework, painting and gardening were her passions. Judy was always seen with a book in hand.

Judy's greatest joy was her family. The biggest smiles and loudest giggles were always evident when she was with her children and grandchildren. Judy and Bill's home was always open to family and friends who knew her by her warm smile and sense of humor. Her cheery disposition brightened everyone's day. She will be dearly missed and joyfully remembered.

Judy is survived by her loving husband Bill, two sons, Scott and Jim, their wives, Heidi and Carol-Lynn; grandchildren, Alyssa Sadler & husband, Tony; James Raas & wife Lexi; Grace Willian; niece, Judy Osborn and extended family.

Friends and relatives are welcome to gather at Judy's 'Celebration of Life' Service at 1:30 pm, Saturday February 9, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, NJ, followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.
