Obituary of Margaret Stifter

Margaret “Marge” Louise (Timmins) Stifter, 85, of Morris Plains, NJ, passed away on October 10, 2015. Born in Denville, NJ, Marge was a long-time resident of Morris Plains. She later lived in Randolph, and then moved to Sunrise in Morris Plains, where she resided for the past five years. Marge graduated from Bayley Ellard High School in 1948. She worked as a Telephone Operator for NJ Bell, and a Sales Associate for Epstein’s, before becoming a homemaker. She was also a devout parishioner of St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains, NJ. Marge enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends, gardening, long walks with her husband, Clarence, spending time with her family, and Sundays on the boat at Lake Hopatcong. She was especially fond of visiting with her grandchildren and had a special fondness for all young children. Marge also enjoyed shopping, often meeting with her friends at the Short Hills Mall for lunch. She will be remembered for her friendly and gentle nature, and how she treated everyone with love and respect. Marge is survived by her devoted children, Louis John Stifter, of Morris Plains, NJ, Carol Lee Stifter, Cathy Pilone and her husband, Daniel, of Boonton, NJ, Lori Fix, and her husband, Frederick, of Randolph, NJ, and Gary Clarence Stifter, of Rockaway Township, NJ. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Louis Stifter, Jr., Jaclyn Clark, Eric McConnell, Paige McKeller, Ryan Stifter, and Cosette Fix; as well as her adored four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Marge was predeceased by her loving husband, Clarence T. Stifter in 2002, and her beloved son, Mark Allen Stifter. Visiting will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass for Marge will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morris Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Marge can be made to: Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be provided by the Funeral Home.
