Kenneth “Ken” W. Fineran, 69, of Millburn, passed away August 9, 2016. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 2-6pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills. Interment will be private. Ken grew up in East Orange prior to living in Millburn for the past 45 years. From 1968 to 1970, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence at Ft. Amador, Panama. He graduated from Upsala College in 1972, and worked for All State Insurance for over 30 years; retiring in 2001 as Claims Manager of the Special Investigations Unit. Ken enjoyed scouting throughout his life and was the Scoutmaster at St. Rosa Lima Church in Short Hills for 36 years from 1979 to 2015; during which time 84 boys achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In addition, he served on the Northern New Jersey Council for the Boy Scouts and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and was active with the Order of the Arrow. Ken was a Global Scout participating in several world and national jamborees, and was honored when he was inducted into the Eagle Scout Hall of Fame in January 2012. In 2015, he was awarded the Community Service Award by the Millburn Township Committee in recognition of his service to the town in scouting and for serving on the Millburn Fourth Of July Committee and the Veterans Recognition Committee. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Barbara Fineran, Ken is survived by his loving wife, Marie Palumbo Fineran; his dear siblings, Charles Fineran, and Susan Fineran; and his cherished nieces, Nicole, Christina, Rachel, Molly, and Kathleen; as well as many friends and fellow Scouts. Ken will be truly missed by his family and friends. Ken’s zest for life and generosity and compassion toward others was immeasurable and will be remembered by all who knew him.
