I met Carol when I moved in across the street from her in 2000. We quickly became friends. She shared many intimate thoughts with me. We spoke on the phone, went places together, had an annual Memorial Day party at my house with our other neighbors, the Huths. Dropping over to visit each other, we spent time laughing, crying, and having “a good blither.” I brought her fresh cut bouquets from my house. She sure loved flowers. We had a common ground in the Catholic Church. We loved to play jokes on each other, like one Christmas Eve I rang her doorbell and scampered away, leaving a large gift of two extra big “king and queen “ frogs, with a note “The King and Queen of Dogwood Road.” Carol was a collector of frogs. I heard her burst into laughter but she didn’t see me. I would cook for her after Ed passed away. There’s so much more to tell of the almost 20 years of friendship we had. She had quite a special life, and relationship with God, becoming a Catholic as she promised after receiving a healing from Our Lord. Her life was not easy, but she knew how to have a good time. One of my most cherished gifts from Carol was her telling me why she liked me so much. The main reason was because I didn’t care about money. She showed me enlightening things about myself. One of my fondest memories of our time together was I took off work on her birthday, to do a Garden Club special project at the library. Then, as we celebrated her birthday lunch at the Chinese restaurant, as she brought up the blue and white China tea cup to her mouth, her smiling eyes sparkled so blue. I heard that she passed away long after the fact. I know she understands. For to understand everything is to forgive everything. Thank you God, for this precious servant who got to spend Christmas in Heaven this year. I miss you, but you are in my heart.

I have such wonderful memories of Aunt Carol. She was always so welcoming to us; we always looked forward to times that we were able to visit and share time with our cousins and Aunt Carol and Uncle Ed. (I remember your Christmas celebrations to be wonderful...she sure went all out on choosing and wrapping gifts...my sisters and I were in awe!) So sorry for your loss....hugs to all of you.
