Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Gerald "Gerry" Joseph Daley, age 72, of Morristown, NJ passed away after a long, valiant battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis at his home, on Monday, January 6th, 2020. Gerry was born on May 22, 1947 in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Gerald and Margaret (Broderick) Daley. He was a member of the Wilby High School Class of 1965, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the University of Connecticut. He retired in 2014 after spending many years in the high voltage electrical sales industry, first with 3M, and later with Registration Electric, making lifelong friends along the way. A kind, loving, generous man of numerous passions, Gerry's life was defined by his love of family, friends, and the finer things in life including sports, food, the arts, travel, and music. He was an enthusiastic golfer, fervent Washington Redskins fan, and also cared deeply for animals, sharing his life with a number of dearly loved pets, before starting his family with the love of his life, Judy (Chin) Daley. In 2010, he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, bravely battling the disease for a decade, enduring a lung transplant in 2015, and prevailing through an incredible amount of adversity. Fueled by the love of his family and friends, he exhibited a tenacious, monumental will and lust for life in his dogged fight, day in and day out. He touched the lives of many with his vibrant personality, incredible sense of humor, and razor-sharp wit. Gerry will be tremendously missed by those lucky enough to have him as a husband, father, uncle, and friend. In addition to his beloved and devoted wife, Judy, of 28 years, he is survived by his son, Liam, and his five sister-in-laws and their extended family, including ten nieces and nephews and one grandniece, who became family of his own. This includes, Ada Chin and her children, Elaine (Mar) and Jeff Grzybowski and their daughter Angelina, Sean Mar and Anne Lai, and Lawrence Mar, Mimie and John Moy and their daughters Dina, Lana, Amanda, and Jessica, Mary and Herman Lee and their children, Lauren and Kenny, Jennie Chin and John Seetoo and their daughter Gwendolyn, and Shelly Chin. He is also predeceased by a number of beloved aunts and uncles including Ronald E. Daley, of Waterbury, Connecticut, Catherine (Broderick) Mandino, of Waterbury, Connecticut, and Francis J. Broderick, of Somers, Connecticut. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains, NJ from 1 to 5 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF), or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
